Happy Birthday Maggie!

Happy Birthday Maggie!

This year I decided to get her a birthday cake.  Yes, I got her a doggie birthday cake.  A local shop here called Coastal K-9 Bakery makes natural and organic dog treats and cakes for dogs.  I thought why not.  I got her an Apple Oatmeal birthday cake.  Maggie loved it.  We even saved enough so that when we celebrated our anniversary, she could have cake too.

Maggie wouldn't look up.  All she wanted was her cake!

Curio cabinet and bar hutch

I've been asking for a curio cabinet for a couple of years now.  My parents for Christmas this year gave me money so that I could finally get one.

Brian and I had be looking on craigslist and wilmington yard sales website for a while trying to find a curio cabinet that wasn't outrageous and that was in my price range.  Brian found one that was incorrectly marked as a curio cabinet and suggested that we replace the bar with it.  I liked it a lot and said why not.  This left me with a small price range for a curio cabinet, but lucky I found one a couple of days later.

New bar

We got the new bar from a young couple in Southport.  It was made by Pottery Barn and we got an awesome deal.  We just love the look of it against the red wall.

Corner curio
I was wanting a corner curio but found an awesome deal with this one and couldn't pass it up.  The woman was getting rid of because she had too many curio cabinets.

Happy Birthday Brian!

Happy Birthday Brian!

We celebrated Brian's birthday a few days early.  Nothing too big, we had his family over for dinner and cake.  It seems as we get older, our birthday celebrations get smaller and more low key.  Why is that?

Snow Day!!

Today was a snow day.  We do not get many of those.  Heck, we only get snow days about once every few years.  Both Brian started off the day with us going to work.  But by the time we got there both offices decided to close.  Not sure why they didn't just close to begin with but hey what do I know.  Where I work by the time that we left we had about 3 inches of snow.  But by the time I got home all we had was ice.

Snow in my parking lot.

First Batch of Beer

Today Brian made his first batch of beer.  It is actually quite a process.  A lot of boiling and a lot of waiting.  Once he was done boiling everything he then has to put in a container for 3-4 weeks and then after that it goes into bottles and waiting another 2-4 weeks.  Hope it turns out good.
