A little history before I say why we went to to Moores Creek National Battlefield. Last year I decided to really look into my family history. I've done everything through Ancestry.com and within the first 10 minutes I was able to find both sets of grandparents and their siblings. With the help of my parents, uncle and my grandma I was able to get more stories to help in my search. Through my research I was able to find that my dad's side of the family came from North Carolina.
We knew that family members have served in wars, but it wasn't clear whom they were. This week I found one. There is a county in North Carolina called Robeson County, and knowing that the spelling of my last name has changed several times over the years I was curious to see if my family had a part in the naming of Robeson County. Turns out Robeson County is named after my 5th great uncle Col. Thomas Robeson.
Col. Thomas Robeson served as one of the leaders of the Revolutionary War in the Battle of Elizabethtown and the Battle of Moore's Creek Bridge. Which brings me to why we went to the battlefield. I wanted to see where someone in my family, especially someone who helped create this country, once stood. I took some pictures and here is the historical marker that explains him a little more. I'm hoping that when my parents and sister come down this summer that we can go to Bladen County to see the marker.

Birthdays
This weekend we celebrated Brian's sister and brother-in-laws birthdays. They wanted mexican for lunch so we had fajitas, rice, and beans. For dessert, cheesecake. Recently we purchased a wii and they wanted to play the NASCAR Cart game that we got. Needless to say it was a family affair of racing and trying to wreck each other. I believe that everyone had fun.
