Garden

We've picked our first vegetables from the garden. 2 zucchinis and 5 jalapenos. I can't wait until we are able to pick tomatoes and the bell peppers. Homemade salsa here we come.

Blood Drive and Punk Music

Work decided to have a blood drive. My first experience giving blood wasn't that bad, so I said what the heck, I'll do it again. Big mistake. One of the nurses kept complaining how she couldn't find a vein and how she was scared to even attempt to put the needle in my arm. So another nurse was able to do it on the first try. Then they left the blood pressure cuff to tight so I almost passed out. Once they got that straightened out, another nurse went by and bumped my arm while I'm in the middle of giving blood. Basically what I'm saying is my arm is still sore and it looks like someone beat the crap out of my arm. Never again will I give blood.

That night we went to House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC to see Pennywise one of Brian's favorite punk bands. Now anybody who knows me knows that I pretty much listen to classic rock and country music, so to go see a punk band is a big step. I must say that I had a decent time. I was mostly entertained by the people who decided to stage dive and land flat on their face.

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend was a lot of fun. Both Brian and I had friends come into town, so there was visiting to be done. Saturday afternoon was Toast to the Coast. It is a huge wine tasting in the middle of a park. Saturday night I had a girls night, which I haven't had in awhile. Sunday we went to the beach and then grilled out and had friends come over to watch the race, Dale Jr finished 5th by the way. Memorial Day we went to the beach and was able to watch Brian help Jackson build sandcastles. Then we went to Brian's parent's house for a cook out. Overall the weekend was fun and the time away from work was much needed.

New Patio

Last night Brian and I made our second big purchase together. Our first was a new TV stand that could accommodate all of our electronic stuff (DVD player, Xbox, stereo receiver, Direct TV receiver). Our second purchase was a new patio set for the side patio. I think it is one of the most comfortable things to sit in. The style is called Plantation Patterns Napa. The chairs are like rockers. It was so late when we finally got everything together that we could only enjoy them for a little bit before it turned dark and we saw lightening. No worries, I hope to have many a dinner out there.
